Our Story

For those of you that don’t know us, here is how it all started…

We have been trading for over 14 years when Pups & Pets started as a hobby and a way for the owner to spend more time with her own dogs.

Starting in a small shop in Hawarden village we gained a loyal following of customers who were continually drawn back by the personal service received. 

As our customer base grew we expanded the product range to meet demand and we’ve continued with this growth ever since. This prompted a move of premises to our much loved Dobshill site in 2012. Dobshill is where Pups & Pets really found its stride, becoming proud stockists of Canagan, Akela, Eden, Acana & Orijen as well as all your many other well-known pet food brands. 

Pups and Pets traded at Dobshill for 9 years and during this time continued to grow as a business, gaining customers and momentum year-on-year resulting in the need to expand again. Our original plan had been to do this at our Dobshill location by moving into the building adjacent to us.

Sadly, despite being granted planning permission for this, the landlord decided to sell the site to a developer meaning we were forced to move off the site.

This was a huge disappointment but with the support and encouragement of our team and customers we started looking at moving to suitable premises locally. In June 2021 we moved to a newly refurbished unit on the Deeside Industrial Park but after 3 years this location was no longer viable and in April 2024 we moved closer to our original location and are now settled near Makro and Screwfix in Pentre.

The move into this unit has allowed Pups and Pets to continue with our very popular Indoor dog play area and fabulous Dog Friendly Coffee Shop as well as bringing along the brilliant XL self serve Dog Wash machine.
